Tornado Destroys 80% of Lodha Dream Center

Good News India is making a significant impact upon the backward and violent Lodha tribal people. We have 125+ kids who are moving towards a better future and have made history by being the first to graduate from High School and head to college.

Saturday, May 13, at 4:10 PM (Indian Standard time) a tornado touched down right on top of our Lodha Dream Center.  125 kids huddled inside. One boy had a head injury and is hospitalized but is going to be LodhaTornado1alright, for which we are grateful! The fierce wind tore off the tin roof and twisted the trusses into pretzels.

80% of the Dream Center is destroyed.

Dormitory, Dining area, Kitchen, Bath/Toilets… all severely damaged. The concrete Chapel survived just fine.

Immediately, I need to temporarily stabilize the kitchen, toilets and a couple of rooms for the kids to sleep in. The Chapel is also being used as a temporary dormitory.

That area sees regular strong storms and high winds that keep blowing off our tin roofs… perhaps it is time to build an all concrete structure there too.LodhaTornado2

The cost will be $120,000. Considering the impact that we are having in the community, it is a great investment.
