HIGH RISK: Akriti’s father, a neglectful alcoholic, abandoned her family leaving her mother, Khusbu, to raise Akriti on her own. She is a destitute tea field labourer, earning about $22 per month, and is not home during the day to look after Akriti. Khusbu was relieved to hear about our Dream Center for girls at risk for trafficking and brought her into our care. Akriti currently dreams of becoming a police officer one day.
